It is quite clear to me, that there are a lot of people out there, who wish to purchase their discus fish as small as 2.5”.
There is nothing wrong with that !

However, this is only the case if for one you are experienced in Discus fish keeping, and two, you fully understand that at this size they require a regular feeding regime.

In order that they might reach there full growth and potential, the regular regime of water changing and feeding must be followed.

Now I’m sure that in a lot of cases which I know off, had these people been given the correct information and advice when purchasing fish so small, they would have saved themselves a lot of heart ache and misery.

It's not always that persons fault, as they fully put their trust in the Discus Fish retailer.

It is of the ultimate importance that you find out the origin of the fish, and that you get to know the people your dealing with.

Discus outlets with gimmicks

BOGOF deals and so on, always check it out! Genuine dealers will not pass on second rate Discus fish.

My advice to newcomers of this fabulous hobby, is obtain a good Discus book, of which there are many available.

In choosing your book purchase, take the common sense approach, firstly decide which Discus fish you intend to keep or are already keeping?

Wild Discus – I would recommend Bleher's Discus Vol 1 and Vol 2 These to me are the most complete works on Discus.

Malaysian Discus - Then in my opinion The Naked Truth by Andrew Soh is the most user friendly publication .

German Discus – The main producer being Stendker Discus.

Most people are frightened off by the price tag on these books, but believe me they can save you a fortune and are indeed invaluable in the long term.

REMEMBER IF YOU PREPARE PROPERLY IT MAKES ACHIEVEMENT THAT MUCH EASIER…!
